The Star Alliance carrier says that its revenues for the six months to 30 June rose by over 9% to more than TL12.3 billion.
Expenditure was up by 8.7% to TL10.3 billion, the airline’s first-half financial statement shows.
Turkish Airlines benefited from a strong hike in finance-related income, particularly in foreign exchange, over the period.
This contributed to a much higher net profit, over TL1 billion, than the previous figure of TL172 million.
Turkish Airlines says the company experienced “severe” fluctuations in currency and fuel price during the half-year.
Over the second quarter the carrier’s revenues were up 11.5% to TL6.8 billion while its operating profit rose by 16% to TL572 million.
